Prisoners of War (POW)

This page is dedicated to a group of unsung heroes of war - The Prisoners of War (POW). In nearly every conflict Australia has been involved in there have been brave men and women who due to unfortunate circumstances have been taken POW. These men and women have had to face not only deprivation of liberty but also many other issues that they and their families have had to live with long after the war had ended.

If you would like to share your story, contact old mates, advertise your reunion or as families members use this page to seek information then submit the your details and we will place it on our website within a week.

Information:

We are gathering information for a book dedicated to the men of 2/26 Battalion who fought in Malaya and Singapore during World War 2 and were taken POW at the Fall of Singapore on 15 February 1943. A book called "The Battalion Story" has already been written about the Battalion from its inception until the return home by Lt. Col. (R) Ron Magarry M.C., J.P., P.H.F..

Our book compliments this by putting together a bibliography of every man who served in the Battalion. We are interested in just obtaining from the surviving men or their families a brief history of the 2/26 men's life before and where applicable after the War and any antidotes of time during 2/26 service. If you could assist us please contact us.
